Pink Noises was a website and will soon be a book. The website, Pinknoises.com, was founded by Analog Tara in 2000 and designed by Karen Choy. It was created to counteract the lack of coverage of women in electronic music magazines and history books, and to make technical information on music production more accessible to women and girls. As Mixer magazine put it: "Pinknoises doesn't just talk girl power, they enable it." The book, forthcoming from Duke University Press in 2010, is an anthology of 24 interviews with women of various generations and cultural backgrounds who are DJs, electronic music producers, and sound installation artists.
